RSS is Excited About Solar!
Ridgway Secondary School (RSS) Located in Ridgway, CO is excited about solar!
Ridgway Secondary School with a Student body of approxly 230 children were surveyed and the large majority of students (over 80%) are interested in learning about solar in the classroom. The Board Of Educators has agreed to bring in a solar curriculum from Solar Energy International (SEI) Solar in Schools Program starting in 2020.
The School is evaluating a full energy offset throughout the next year with covered parking and rooftop solar on the gymnasium. Solar My School and local solar installer Alternative Power Enterprises are working with the Community Council’s Clean Energy Committee and the Colorado Energy Office to provide resources and assistance to help the district attain a net zero solar school.
In the interim, Solar My School is working with the science and technology teacher, Sean Hart to design and plan for a solar electric vehicle charging station located near the woodshop building. And hopes to engage the student body on searching for a sister school to help go solar.
